Istanbul to Istanbul

DAY 1 - Istanbul
Arrived Istanbul.
DAY 2 - Istanbul
City tour of the Blue Mosque, the Aya Sofia, Topkapi Palace and the Hippodrome.
DAY 3 - Istanbul to Gallipoli
Visited the WWI Battlefields of Gallipoli including Lone Pine and Chunuk Bair Memorials, ANZAC Cove, the Nek, Johnston's Jolly and the Kaba Tepe Gallipoli Museum.
DAY 4 - Gallipoli to Kusadasi via Troy and Pergamum
This morning, we visited Troy, complete with Trojan Horse. Then we tour the magnificient acropolis of Pergamum siuated above the town of Bergama.
DAY 5 - Kusadasi to Pamukkale via Ephesus
Guided tour of Ephesus. We also visited a carpet village we learn how the carpets are made by hand and what determines their value.
DAY 6 - Pamukkale to Konya
Tour of the white calcium terraces of Pamukkale, followed by the ancient city of Hierapolis. We had the option of taking a dip in the hot springs that were used in Roman times for their therapuetic powers but decided to take off for a look at the Roman museum instead.
DAY 7 - onto Cappadocia
We stopped in for a visit to the ancient Silk Road Caravanserais. Too late for an afternoon trek through the Ihlara Valle but we stopped to have a look anyway.
DAY 8 - Cappadocia
Guided tour of Goreme Valley, the Fairy Chimneys and one of the largest underground cities, Derinkuyu. We enjoyed a traditional Turkish feast and folklore show including whirling dervishes.
DAY 9 - Cappadocia to Istanbul
Very long bus trip back to Istanbul.
